Practice American Accent with two sentences

“Intonation” is the melody of language and is made up of pitches that rise and fall. This rising and falling melody is used to communicate our intentions and our emotions.

Hello everyone. I’m Diem from Phat Am Hay.

In this clip, I am gonna show you how to read these two sentences with the American Accent.

Listen to the way the native speaker reads:

“Intonation” is the melody of language and is made up of pitches that rise and fall. This
rising and falling melody is used to communicate our intentions and our emotions.

The difficult words to pronounce are:

intonation                          /ˌɪntəˈneɪʃən/

melody                                /ˈmelədi/ 

language                             /ˈlæŋgwɪdʒ/

pitches                                 /’pɪtʃiz/

this                                        /ðɪs/

communicate                    /kəˈmjuːnɪkeɪt/

intention                             /ɪnˈtenʃən/

emotion                              /ɪˈmouʃən/

Now, listen and repeat after me:

Intonation melody  language   pitches   this   communicate   intention   emotion

They are the words that are difficult to pronounce.

Next part is liaison or another word is linking.

The last part is intonation: we will raise our voice in the content words, for example nouns and verbs. The stress words are in bold.
